PART 2: THE INVESTIGATION

Within fifteen minutes, every email, draft, cloud revision history, and presentation timestamp had been forwarded to the company's General Counsel.

The metadata told a story no one could argue with.

The original campaign files had been created under my employee account.

Sarah had downloaded them.

Changed the author names.

Deleted revision comments.

Then submitted nearly identical presentations to the executive committee under her own name.

The legal department immediately alerted the Chairman.

An emergency Board Ethics Committee meeting was called.

The CEO, who had promoted Sarah based entirely on the materials placed on his desk, sat in stunned silence as the evidence appeared one file after another across the conference room screen.

No one spoke.

No one defended Sarah.

The board voted unanimously to suspend her promotion pending investigation.

HR received instructions.

Legal approved them.

IT received authorization to revoke executive access until the investigation concluded.

Forty minutes after the celebration had ended...

Sarah's laptop suddenly locked.

Her access badge stopped working.

The announcement on the company's LinkedIn page quietly disappeared without explanation.

She stormed into the hallway.

"What is happening?"

The Director of Human Resources, accompanied by Corporate Security and an IT administrator, approached calmly.

"Ms. Kline."

She laughed.

"This has to be some mistake."

HR maintained a professional expression.

"The Board has opened a formal investigation regarding intellectual property misrepresentation."

Sarah's smile disappeared.

"You are being placed on administrative leave effective immediately. Please surrender all company property while the investigation is conducted."

"I was just promoted!"

"The promotion has been suspended."

She looked toward the CEO's office.

The CEO was inside with several board members.
