Chapter 1 – The Hidden Truth
The courtroom fell silent after Sophie's testimony.
Richard couldn't stop hearing her trembling words.
“She locked me in the closet... and said Daddy would be angry if I told.”
That night, he sat alone in his study, replaying years of security footage from the mansion. He had spent years building one of the largest business empires in the country, believing his daughter was safe behind the walls of their luxurious home.
Instead, he uncovered a nightmare.
The cameras revealed Vanessa removing food from Sophie's plate after minor mistakes. She ordered the staff never to comfort the little girl without permission. Whenever Richard called from overseas, Vanessa forced Sophie to smile before putting her on camera.
The cheerful little girl he'd seen during every video call had been rehearsed.
Richard buried his face in his hands.
"I was protecting a company," he whispered, "while my daughter needed me."
