Chapter 6 - The Hospital
Claire was rushed to the hospital.
The baby was delivered via emergency C-section.
The baby was a girl.
She was early, but she was healthy.
She was beautiful.

Claire held her daughter in her arms.
"She's perfect," she whispered.
The baby had a full head of dark hair.
She had Evan's eyes.
Claire looked at her.
"You will never know what I went through to bring you into this world," she said.
"But you will know this."
"I love you."
"I will always protect you."

Mara entered the room.
"Claire, I have news."
"What?"
"We arrested Victoria and Evan at the vineyard."
"They're being charged with multiple counts of fraud."
"Claire, the evidence you gathered is overwhelming."
"They're going to prison."

Claire nodded.
"What about the baby?"
"You can keep her."
"I've already spoken to the state attorney. You're not a suspect. You're a whistleblower."
Claire looked down at her daughter.
"Thank you," she whispered.
