Chapter 19 - The Wedding We Finally Attended

Three years later, Sienna got engaged.
Again.
His name was David Kim.
Civil engineer.
No secret company.
No dramatic charm.
He wore bad shoes.
I liked him immediately.
Sienna told him everything before their third date.
Arthur.
The wedding.
The forged shares.
Her role.
Her restitution.
Everything.
David still stayed.
Not because he saved her.
Because he had informed consent.
Important difference.
A month before the wedding, Sienna came to my apartment.
Same place where I had watched the first wedding collapse.
She placed an envelope on my table.
Inside was an invitation.
“I want you there.”
I looked at her.
“No ultimatum?”
She smiled nervously.
“No.”
“What if Mom doesn’t like it?”
“She can stay home.”
That sentence surprised both of us.
Then Sienna said:
“I know I took things from you.”
“Arthur.”
“The company seat.”
“Dad’s approval.”
“Mom’s attention.”
I shook my head.
“You didn’t take all of those.”
“Some were given to you by people choosing badly.”
She nodded.
“Still.”
“I’m sorry.”
This time the apology was specific.
“I knew Arthur was still engaged to you when I started seeing him.”
“I knew taking your board seat would hurt you.”
“I knew Dad’s explanation about the shares didn’t fully make sense.”
“I chose not to ask because I liked what I was getting.”
“I’m sorry.”
I looked at her.
Then answered:
“I forgive you.”
She started crying instantly.
“Really?”
“Yes.”
“Not because what you did was small.”
“Because it’s finished.”
She hugged me.
This time I hugged back.
At her wedding, Mom sat beside me.
Dad attended under supervised release conditions months later?
No.
He was still incarcerated.
Sienna chose not to delay her life for his sentence.
Good.
David waited at the altar.
No black box arrived.
No hidden wife.
No forged trust.
No employee money paid for flowers.
Sienna walked down the aisle.
She looked at me before reaching him.
I nodded.
May you like
She smiled.
And this time, the wedding music did not stop.
