CHAPTER 10: AUDREY AT THE DOOR

Three weeks later, Audrey knocked. She looked nothing like the woman I’d known—simple clothes, no makeup, carrying a bag of my favorite cookies.
“I’m sorry,” she said before I could speak. “I was weak. I was scared of her. I chose safety over what was right. I hate myself for it.”
Sophia opened the door wider. “Come in. You can’t change the past, but you can choose who you are now.”
