Adrian carried Elena out of the grand foyer as paramedics rushed through the estate. Her fingers trembled against his suit jacket, but she never complained about the pain. Her only concern was the tiny heartbeat inside her.
"Please..." she whispered. "My baby..."
"You'll both be safe," Adrian replied, his voice steady.
The emergency physician confirmed bruising, dehydration, and extreme emotional stress, but the baby was still healthy.
