Chapter 3: Sweet Revenge
Claire looked like she was going to faint. “Ethan… this is a joke, right? You’re just a mechanic!”
Ethan stepped closer, voice steady but cold. “I was. Until the woman I loved slapped me at our wedding and ran into the arms of a guy who only wanted a trophy. You humiliated me in front of everyone I cared about.”
Kevin tried to recover. “Look, man, we can talk business. My family can partner with yours—”
“No,” Ethan cut him off. “Your family’s company just lost every major contract with Voss Group. Effective immediately.”
Security escorted Kevin and Claire out as guests whispered excitedly. Claire cried and begged, “Ethan, please! I made a mistake. I still love you!”
“You loved my money,” Ethan replied quietly. “Too bad you threw it away.”
Six months later, Ethan had fully stepped into his role as heir. He rebuilt his life stronger, wiser, and no longer naive.
One evening at a quiet café — the same one where he used to work — Claire showed up looking exhausted and desperate.
“Ethan… I left Kevin. He’s broke now. Please give me another chance. We can start over.”
Ethan looked at her for a long moment, then smiled gently — without any warmth.
“I already started over, Claire. Without you. And I’ve never been happier.”
He stood up, leaving her standing there alone, and walked out to where his father waited in the car.
Daniel clapped him on the back. “Proud of you, son.”
Ethan nodded. “Turns out the best revenge wasn’t destroying them. It was becoming the man they never thought I could be.”
