Chapter 2: The Truth No One Expected

The ballroom erupted.

"No way..."

"That's impossible!"

"Olivia?"

Victoria stared at Olivia in disbelief.

"She's just a department manager!"

"My husband built this company from nothing!"

Julian looked at Richard.

Then back at Victoria.

"Built it?"

"With whose money?"

He nodded toward the massive LED screen behind the stage.

Without warning—

The presentation changed.

Financial reports.

Corporate ownership records.

Investment contracts.

Digital signatures.

Share certificates.

One document after another appeared before every guest.

Across the top of every page stood one name.

Olivia Bennett.

Majority Shareholder.

68% Ownership.

The room fell silent again.

Olivia slowly stepped onto the stage.

Julian's jacket still rested over her shoulders.

She looked composed.

Almost peaceful.

Three years of silence had finally reached its end.

"When Harrington Global was weeks away from bankruptcy..."

"I invested every dollar my late grandfather left me."

"I never wanted recognition."

"I only wanted the company to survive."

She turned toward Richard.

"You begged me to remain anonymous."

"You said investors trusted a male CEO more than a young woman."

"I believed you."

"I believed in our employees."

"I believed in our future."

"So I stayed invisible."

"I approved every expansion."

"Every promotion."

"Every acquisition."

"I signed every financial decision."

She paused.

"But tonight..."

"...the woman whose salary I indirectly paid..."

"...called me a prostitute."

The room became unbearably quiet.

Victoria slowly looked toward her husband.

"You..."

"...lied to me?"

Richard opened his mouth.

"Victoria, listen..."

"You told me she was obsessed with you!"

"You said she kept chasing you!"

"I only wanted to protect our marriage!"

Richard's voice cracked.

"I panicked."

"I never expected this."

Julian stepped closer.

"The Board of Directors has already received the ownership records."

"Corporate security is waiting outside."

"By tomorrow morning..."

"...Richard Harrington will no longer be CEO."

Richard's knees nearly gave out.

Everything he had spent years pretending to build...

Collapsed within minutes.

Later that night...

Inside Olivia's quiet penthouse overlooking the city skyline...

She sat alone on the couch.

The events replayed endlessly in her mind.

Julian handed her a glass of water.

"You didn't have to expose everything tonight," she whispered.

"I was prepared to endure it."

Julian shook his head.

"No."

"I've watched you sacrifice yourself for years."

"I couldn't watch them destroy you."

He looked into her eyes.

His usually composed expression softened.

"I've loved you..."

"...since the day you hired me as your confidential advisor."

"Two years."

"I kept my feelings hidden because you deserved peace."

Olivia stared at him.

"You... love me?"

Julian smiled gently.

"I've loved the strongest woman I've ever known."

"And tonight..."

"I finally stopped pretending I didn't."

The next morning...

Someone knocked desperately on Olivia's office door.

Richard entered first.

Victoria followed behind him.

Both looked exhausted.

Both looked terrified.

Victoria suddenly dropped to her knees.

"Please, Olivia..."

"We'll do anything."

May you like

"Please don't take everything away."

"Think about our children."
