Chapter 3: The Final Reckoning
The courtroom fell into chaos. Aria looked devastated. “Dad… is that true?”
Damien stood tall, voice steady. “Blood or not, you are my daughter. I raised you. I loved you. That’s all that matters.”
He then unleashed hell.
Using his elite military connections and hidden evidence he had gathered, Damien exposed the entire family. Nathan’s uncle was arrested for corruption and bribery. Vivian was charged with attempted murder, child endangerment, and conspiracy. Nathan received 25 years in prison.
The most emotional moment came when Damien presented DNA results in court — he had done a secret test. Aria was biologically his daughter. Vivian had lied to break them apart.
After the trial, Aria gave birth to a beautiful baby girl named Elena.
In the hospital room, she cried while holding her daughter. “Dad… you saved both of us.”
Damien kissed her forehead, tears in his eyes for the first time in twenty years. “I will always come for you. No matter where I am, no matter what war I’m fighting. You are my greatest mission.”
Six months later, Aria opened a small bookstore café with the inheritance she finally recovered. She raised Elena in peace, strong and free.
Every weekend, Colonel Damien Cross — the man once feared on the battlefield — became the gentlest grandfather, pushing little Elena on the swing with a soft smile on his scarred face.
