CRACK!
The sound of a belt whipping across flesh echoed through the luxurious penthouse.
Aria screamed as she collapsed onto the marble floor, curling her body around her seven-month pregnant belly. Blood ran down her back from the fresh welts.
“You think you can embarrass me in front of my friends?!” Nathan roared, his expensive shirt unbuttoned, eyes wild with rage. “You’re nothing but a cheap whore who got lucky marrying into my family!”
His mother, Vivian, sat on the couch sipping red wine, watching coldly. “Hit her harder, son. She needs to learn respect.”
Aria sobbed, reaching out a trembling hand. “Please… the baby… I’m begging you…”
Nathan kicked her in the stomach. “This baby is the only reason I haven’t killed you yet.”
In the corner of the room, Aria’s hidden phone was still recording. With the last of her strength, she whispered into it:
“Dad… if you can hear this… please come. They’re going to kill us.”
Three days later, the front door of the penthouse exploded off its hinges.
Colonel Damien Cross — a battle-hardened legend who had just returned from a classified overseas mission — stepped through the smoke in his combat uniform, eyes burning with murderous fury.
Nathan froze. Vivian dropped her wine glass.
“Where is my daughter?” Damien’s voice was low, but it made the air itself tremble.
Nathan tried to act brave. “This is a family matter, old man—”
Damien moved like lightning. One punch sent Nathan crashing into the glass table.
“Family?” Damien growled, stepping on Nathan’s chest. “You call torturing my pregnant daughter ‘family’?”
Aria, hearing the commotion, crawled out from the bedroom, covered in bruises and tears. “Dad…?”
