CHAPTER 3: The Race Against Time
Doctors rushed Ethan into surgery.
"We don't have much time," Dr. Harris said. "If those parasites reach his brain, he may not survive."
Sarah stayed outside with Ethan's mother.
"How could this happen?" Mrs. Parker sobbed.
Then she remembered.
"Three weeks ago, we visited my parents' farm. Ethan drank water from a creek."
The surgery lasted nearly six hours.
Finally, Dr. Harris walked out.
"We removed twenty-three parasitic worms."
Mrs. Parker collapsed into tears.
"But..." the doctor continued, "we couldn't find the last one."
At that exact moment, an alarm sounded from Ethan's room.
