CHAPTER 2 — THE WOMAN WHO WAS NEVER SUPPOSED TO EXIST

CHAPTER 2 — THE WOMAN WHO WAS NEVER SUPPOSED TO EXIST

Emily stepped back just before the door fully opened.

Her heart was pounding so loud she thought they might hear it.

She hid behind the hallway corner.

Daniel walked out first, adjusting his suit like nothing happened.

The woman followed.

Emily froze.

Because she knew her.

Not a stranger.

Not a random affair.

It was Claire—Daniel’s cousin.

Emily whispered, “Oh my God…”

Claire looked nervous. “We need to tell her before the wedding starts.”

Daniel snapped, “No. Not yet.”

Claire lowered her voice. “She deserves the truth.”

Emily’s hands shook. She pulled out her phone again, replaying the photo.

It was real.

Too real.

Then Claire suddenly paused.

Her eyes shifted toward the hallway.

“Daniel… I think someone’s here.”

Silence.

Emily held her breath.

Footsteps.

Coming closer.

Daniel slowly turned toward the corner.

“Emily… I know you’re there.”

Her blood ran cold.

She stepped out.

“Tell me this is fake,” she said.

Daniel looked at her… but didn’t deny it.

Instead, he said something worse.

“Emily… you don’t understand what’s coming tonight.”

Claire looked terrified.

“Stop,” she whispered. “She doesn’t know about the second message.”

Emily blinked. “Second message?”

Daniel’s phone buzzed.

Unknown number.

Same as hers.

He turned pale.

And then—

May you like

He showed her the screen.

“If she marries you, she dies.”
