Chapter 3: The Beautiful Twist
“You’re the girl from the orphanage scholarship program,” Ji-hoon whispered, stepping closer.
Soo-ah looked up, surprised but calm. “Mr. Kang. I didn’t expect to see you here.”
The truth came out slowly over the following weeks.
Soo-ah wasn’t just a street cleaner. She had been a brilliant scholarship student his father had sponsored. After her parents died, she dropped out of university to take care of her sick grandmother and work multiple jobs to support the orphanage she grew up in.
Ji-hoon, who had always been spoiled and arrogant, slowly changed.
He started showing up at the orphanage, helping with repairs, playing with the children, and driving Soo-ah home after her long shifts.
One rainy evening, after the children had gone to bed, Ji-hoon finally spoke from his heart.
“I was a terrible person that day. I’m sorry. You showed me what real strength looks like.”
Soo-ah smiled softly. “I didn’t stop your hand because I wanted recognition. I did it because it was the right thing to do.”
Ji-hoon took her hand. “Let me take care of you now. Not because I owe you… but because I’ve fallen in love with the strongest, kindest woman I’ve ever met.”
Six months later, at a beautiful seaside wedding, Chairman Kang proudly walked Soo-ah down the aisle while his mother — fully recovered — smiled from the front row.
The arrogant billionaire had been humbled.
