CHAPTER 2: “THIS BANK BELONGS TO NO ONE… YET”
The robbers laughed at first.
Then the vault doors stopped responding.
Then the security feed shut down.
Then every screen in the bank turned black.
A single message appeared:
CORE FINANCIAL AUTHORITY DETECTED
The bank manager rushed into the lobby.
“What is going on”
A technician shouted from the control room.
“Sir… the entire bank network is under override!”
The manager snapped.
“By who”
The technician swallowed.
“…Evan Reed.”
The manager turned slowly toward the clerk.
“That’s impossible.”
The leader of the robbers stepped back.
“You’re telling me this guy runs the bank?”
Evan shook his head.
“No.”
A pause.
“I run the system that all banks depend on.”
Silence fell.
One robber whispered.
“What does that mean”
Evan looked at him.
“It means every transaction you think exists…”
“Only exists because I allow it.”
The vault system suddenly activated by itself.
But instead of opening…
it locked permanently.
The leader shouted.
“OPEN IT NOW”
Evan spoke softly.
“You are inside a closed financial loop.”
A pause.
“There is no exit command.”
The manager screamed from the control room.
“Stop him! Shut him out!”
But the technician shook his head.
“We can’t.”
“His credentials are embedded at root level.”
The manager went pale.
“Root level belongs to the central bank…”
The technician interrupted.
“…and he is responding as central bank authority.”
Evan stepped forward slowly.
The robbers aimed their weapons.
But no one fired.
Because every gun in the building had already been disabled electronically.
The leader whispered.
“What are you”
Evan answered simply.
“The system you trust to move money.”
May you like
A pause.
“And the reason it still works.”
