THEY FIRED THE JANITOR… THEN THE PENTAGON LOST CONTROL OF EVERY SATELLITE IN 9 MINUTES
CHAPTER 1: “JUST CLEAN THE FLOORS”
“Hey, old man. Don’t touch that door.”
The security guard shoved the mop handle aside.
Marcus Hill didn’t react. He just stepped back, nodding slightly.
“Sorry.”
The Pentagon hallway was quiet at this hour. Too quiet for a place that controlled half the world’s defense systems.
Marcus continued mopping the floor like nothing mattered.
Like the three men watching him from the glass office didn’t exist.
Inside the room, senior officers laughed.
“That’s him? The new janitor?”
“Budget cuts are getting ridiculous.”
One of them pointed through the glass.
“Hey, cleaner. You missed a spot.”
Marcus looked up.
Then walked over.
He knelt down.
And wiped the floor again.
The officers laughed harder.
“Perfect. He listens well.”
The senior director leaned back.
“Don’t even think about touching anything else. You’re just here to clean.”
Marcus nodded.
“Yes, sir.”
But his eyes lingered for half a second too long on the glowing red terminal inside the secured room.
The terminal labeled:
ORBITAL DEFENSE GRID CONTROL
A guard stepped closer.
“Stop looking at that. You understand what it is?”
Marcus replied calmly.
“Yes.”
A pause.
“It’s unstable.”
The guard laughed.
“Unstable? It controls all US defense satellites.”
Marcus returned to mopping.
“Then it’s definitely unstable.”
The guard frowned.
“You’re funny for a janitor.”
Marcus didn’t answer.
May you like
He just finished cleaning.
And quietly left a small fingerprint on the floor sensor as he walked away.
