CHAPTER 2: THE GIRL THE WORLD WAS SEARCHING FOR

Fifteen years passed.

The Bennett family became one of New York's most respected business dynasties.

Richard often joked that throwing Isabella out had been "the best decision we ever made."

He had no idea she was alive.

Or that she had become Isabella Laurent.

The youngest female CEO ever to lead Laurent Global Capital.

A financial empire with investments in more than sixty countries.

Governments negotiated with her.

Royal families invited her.

Presidents waited for appointments.

One morning, her chief of staff entered quietly.

"We found the final DNA records."

Isabella looked up.

"And?"

He placed an old velvet folder on her desk.

"Your biological family."

She opened it.

Inside was a family crest recognized by every major financial institution in Europe.

House Laurent.

A dynasty older than many nations.

Private banks.

Shipping empires.

Luxury brands.

Energy companies.

Their combined fortune exceeded three hundred billion dollars.

Her hands froze.

A second document slid across the desk.

"You were kidnapped at age four."

She stared.

"What?"

The investigator nodded.

"The people who took you died in a traffic accident."

"You ended up in foster care under a false identity."

"The Bennetts unknowingly adopted you."

She looked out the window.

"So they never knew."

The investigator answered quietly.

"No."

"But they certainly made sure you'd never discover who you really were."

A silence filled the office.

Then Isabella smiled.

Not with happiness.

With purpose.

"Schedule a meeting."

"With Bennett Corporation."

Three months later...

The Bennetts received an invitation from Laurent Global Capital.

Richard smiled confidently.

"The richest investment firm in Europe wants to partner with us."

He had no idea...

The woman waiting in the boardroom already knew every lie he had ever told.
