CHAPTER 8: THE INHERITANCE

The inheritance was mine.
All of it.
The estate.
The businesses.
The trust.
Everything my grandfather had left me.
I used the money to set up a foundation. To help families. To fight for justice.
I also used it to take care of my grandmother.
She moved into my house. I hired nurses. She got better.
"She's going to be fine," the doctor said. "She just needed to be in a safe place."
I visited her every day.
We talked. We laughed. We cried.
And I told her everything.
About the trial.
About the inheritance.
About my father.
"Charlotte," she said, "you're the strongest person I know."
"Thank you, Grandmother."
"You're going to do great things. I know it."
I held her hand.
And I knew she was right.
May you like
Because I had finally found my purpose.
And I wasn't going to let anyone take it away from me.
