CHAPTER 4: JUSTICE
CHAPTER 4: JUSTICE
The second recording began.
Arthur sounded exhausted.
Weak.
Like a man who knew his time was running out.
"If you're hearing this, I may already be gone."
The courtroom was silent.
Arthur continued.
"Mrs. Gable is innocent. She protected Eleanor like family."
Mrs. Gable started crying.
Then Arthur revealed everything.
Hidden bank accounts.
Secret payments.
Detailed plans between Clara and Julian.
Every piece of evidence investigators had been missing.
By the time the recording ended, the case was over.
Months later, Clara and Julian were convicted.
They would spend the rest of their lives behind bars.
The company survived.
The truth finally won.
Outside the courthouse, reporters crowded around us.
I ignored them.
Instead, I turned toward Mrs. Gable.
She opened her arms.
I ran into them.
For years, I had carried fear.
For years, I felt alone.
But not anymore.
"Your father would be proud of you," she whispered.
I looked up at the sky and smiled.
Maybe he was gone.
But his voice had come back when I needed it most.
And in the end...
May you like
Justice spoke louder than lies.
