The courtroom was so quiet that I could hear my own heartbeat.

I sat in the witness chair, my feet dangling above the floor. Everyone was staring at me.

"My dad gave it to me for my seventh birthday."

The prosecutor smiled politely.

"That's very nice, Eleanor, but how does that help us?"

I swallowed hard.

"Because... it recorded everything."

The laughter stopped.

Every single person in the courtroom froze.

The judge leaned forward.

"Did you just say it recorded everything?"

I nodded.

Arthur Sterling had bought me the toy because he didn't want me touching his expensive electronics.

The judge's eyes narrowed.
