The room erupted.
"Security!"
"Get her out!"
But Ethan raised his hand.
"No. Let her speak."
The woman smiled sadly.
"My name is Amelia."
She pulled an old photograph from her purse.
A photo of two little girls.
Identical twins.
The same eyes.
The same smile.
The same face.
The guests leaned forward.
"Oh my God..."
Amelia handed the photo to Ethan.
He looked at Olivia.
"Is this real?"
Olivia remained silent.
That silence was enough.
Amelia took a deep breath.
"When we were five, we were separated."
"What happened?" Ethan asked.
"I was sent into foster care."
"And Olivia?"
Amelia laughed bitterly.
"She got adopted by millionaires."
The wealthy Kensington family looked horrified.
"That's not true!" Olivia's adoptive mother shouted.
Amelia turned toward her.
"You paid to make sure nobody ever looked for me."
The woman suddenly pulled out a folder.
"Bank records."
The room froze.
"Private investigators. Lawyers. Payments made over twenty years."
Olivia whispered, "Please don't."
Amelia's eyes filled with tears.
"Do you know how many nights I slept hungry?"
She looked around the room.
"While she lived like a princess."
Ethan opened the folder.
His face turned pale.
The documents looked real.
Very real.
Then he found something hidden inside.
A letter.
Addressed to Olivia.
Written by their mother.
And dated just six months ago.
