CHAPTER 2 — THE MAN WHO WAS NEVER INTRODUCED

CHAPTER 2 — THE MAN WHO WAS NEVER INTRODUCED

Olivia stared at the man in the black suit.

She didn’t recognize him.

But something about him felt wrong.

Too calm.

Too prepared.

“Who is that?” she whispered.

Ethan turned slowly.

Then frowned.

“I don’t know him.”

That was the moment everything shifted.

Because the man smiled wider.

And took a small step forward.

“Actually,” the man said softly, “you do.”

Security started moving in.

But Ethan raised his hand. “Wait.”

The man reached into his pocket and pulled out a phone.

He tapped once.

A photo appeared on the giant gala screen.

Olivia’s breath stopped.

It was her.

But younger.

Standing in front of a hospital.

Holding a newborn baby.

The crowd exploded.

Olivia screamed, “TURN THAT OFF!”

But the man only nodded.

“Interesting,” he said. “You still don’t remember.”

Ethan turned sharply. “What is this?”

The man tilted his head.

“She was never just a wife,” he said.

“She was a witness.”

Olivia froze.

“What… did you just say?”

The man looked directly at her.

Then spoke the line that shattered everything.

“You signed documents twenty years ago, Olivia.”

“And you forgot what they were for.”

Ethan grabbed Olivia’s arm. “What documents?”

Olivia pulled away, shaking.

“I don’t know what he’s talking about!”

But her voice wasn’t certain anymore.

The man pressed another button.

A second file appeared.

Bank accounts.

Millions transferred under Olivia’s name.

All from companies that officially didn’t exist.

Sophie whispered behind them:

“This is why I tried to warn you…”

Olivia spun around. “You knew?”

Sophie nodded, crying. “That man… he’s been watching you for months.”

The man smiled.

“Not months,” he corrected.

“Years.”

Then Ethan’s phone buzzed again.

Unknown number:

“Your wife is not the target.”

Ethan looked up slowly.

“Then who is?”

May you like

The man answered immediately.

“You.”
