Moment 'jealous' Donald Trump embarrasses King Charles as he shakes his head

President Donald Trump placed King Charles in an uncomfortable position during the European monarch's visit to the United States this week.

As the two world leaders posed for photographs alongside their respective wives, First Lady Melania Trump, 55, and Queen Consort Camilla, 78, an awkward moment of silence ensued, which Trump, 79, broke with a remark that appeared to cause King Charles some discomfort.

"He made a GREAT speech! I was VERY jealous!" Trump declared to photographers, referring to King Charles' White House address, causing the 77-year-old royal to modestly shake his head and respond, "No." This came before King Charles pointed out Trump's immigrant roots at a White House dinner on Tuesday, April 28, evening.

King Charles and Camilla touched down in Washington, D.C., on April 27 for their four-day state visit, which includes appearances in New York City and Virginia. Trump and Melania greeted them at the White House.

This represents Charles's inaugural visit to the U.S. as a sitting monarch and the first state visit by a British Monarch since the late Queen Elizabeth was received by George Bush in May 2007.

King Charles encouraged Trump to abandon his America First approach and embrace a strengthened alliance with Britain for global progress. Charles received significant acclaim for his unifying speech before a joint session of Congress, emphasizing the common principles underlying the "special relationship."

During his address, Charles spoke of the enduring bonds forged between previous monarchs and presidents, emphasizing that during turbulent periods, Britain and the United States must "stand united in our commitment to uphold democracy, to protect all our people from harm."

He added, "We meet in times of great uncertainty, in times of conflict from Europe to the Middle East, which pose immense challenges."

Additionally, Charles stated, "I am inspired by the profound respect that develops as people of different faiths grow in their understanding of each other," stressing the importance of peace amid continuing tensions in Iran and the Middle East.
