CHAPTER 3: THE MAN THEY DIDN'T RECOGNIZE

Chicago's biggest real estate conference was packed.
Olivia confidently walked onto the stage.
Then the host made an announcement.
"Our mystery investor has arrived."
Everyone turned.
A tall man in an expensive tailored suit entered.
Olivia froze.
"Ethan?"
Mason nearly dropped his drink.
Impossible.
Ethan had disappeared years ago.
Ethan smiled politely.
"Miss me?"
Olivia quickly recovered.
"What are you doing here?"
"I bought your debt."
Silence.
Mason laughed nervously.
"That's impossible."
Ethan slid documents across the table.
"Your banks disagreed."
Olivia turned pale.
Walker Realty now owed Ethan nearly sixty million dollars.
And the loans were due in thirty days.
Mason exploded.
"You planned this!"
Ethan shrugged.
"No. You planned this five years ago."
Before leaving, Ethan stopped.
"Oh, one more thing."
He looked directly at Olivia.
"The penthouse belongs to me again. I'd like it back by Friday."
May you like
Olivia's face went white.
