CHAPTER 1: THE DEAD WOMAN

CHAPTER 1: THE DEAD WOMAN

For three years, Daniel Harper visited his wife's grave every Sunday.

Three years.

He still couldn't believe Emma was gone.

The official report said she had died in a boating accident.

Her body had never been recovered.

But everyone assumed she was dead.

Including Daniel.

At forty-two, Daniel had buried his grief in work and eventually become CEO of Harper Industries.

One Monday morning, Daniel was leading a board meeting when his assistant burst into the room.

"Sir... there's someone here insisting on seeing you."

Daniel frowned.

"I'm busy."

The assistant looked pale.

"You need to see this."

Annoyed, Daniel walked into the lobby.

And froze.

Standing near the reception desk was Emma.

His wife.

Very much alive.

Daniel nearly collapsed.

"Emma?"

The woman looked startled.

"I'm sorry. You must have mistaken me for someone else."

A man standing beside her wrapped an arm around her.

"Is there a problem?" he asked.

Daniel couldn't breathe.

"Emma... it's me. Daniel."

The woman shook her head.

"My name is Sarah Collins."

Daniel grabbed an old family photo from his phone.

"Look!"

The woman stared at it.

Her face turned white.

Then she suddenly fainted.

Hours later, at the hospital, the doctor delivered shocking news.

"She has severe memory loss caused by head trauma."

Daniel felt hope for the first time in years.

But then the man beside her spoke.

"I'm her husband."

Daniel slowly turned.

"What did you just say?"

The man nodded.

May you like

"Sarah and I have been married for two years."
