PART 3 — THE SON WHO CHOSE THE WRONG SIDE
Michael finally found his voice.
"You can't do this."
Daniel looked at him.
"I already have."
"You embarrassed Mom."
"You humiliated her."
"You stood there while she was forced onto her knees."
Michael shook his head.
"I was trying to keep the peace."
Daniel's eyes never left him.
"No."
"You were protecting yourself."
Those words landed harder than any slap.
Vanessa grabbed Michael's arm.
"Say something!"
"Tell him this is our house."
Michael looked around.
The dining room.
The staircase.
The fireplace.
Every childhood memory lived inside these walls.
And suddenly...
He realized something.
He didn't remember the last time he'd asked his mother if she was happy.
Daniel walked toward the hallway.
Two sheriff's deputies stepped inside.
Vanessa froze.
"You called the police?"
Daniel shook his head.
"No."
"I called the Sheriff's Office."
"The court approved a writ of removal this morning."
He handed the deputies the paperwork.
One deputy turned toward Vanessa.
"Ma'am."
"You need to gather your belongings."
"You are no longer authorized to remain on this property."
Vanessa exploded.
"This old woman manipulated all of you!"
"I'm the victim!"
The deputy didn't react.
"No, ma'am."
"The victim..."
He glanced toward me.
"...is standing right there."
For the first time...
Vanessa had no audience.
Only witnesses.
As deputies escorted her upstairs, she screamed over her shoulder.
"You'll regret this, Michael!"
Michael didn't answer.
May you like
Because he finally understood...
He already did.
