CHAPTER 2: THE HOUSE SECRET
"This isn't possible," Noah whispered.
Ava folded her arms.
"Oh, it's very possible."
Years earlier, Ava's grandmother had left her a large inheritance.
Using that money, Ava purchased the house.
Only her name was on the deed.
Noah had never bothered reading the paperwork.
He simply assumed everything belonged to him.
Diane grabbed the documents.
"Noah is your husband! He has rights!"
Ava calmly shook her head.
"My attorney disagrees."
Claire slowly picked up her suitcases.
"Noah... maybe I should leave."
"No!" Noah snapped.
Then he turned toward Ava.
"You wouldn't throw out the father of your child."
Ava looked directly at him.
"The father of my child disappeared the day he started another family."
She handed him an envelope.
"What is this?" Noah asked.
"Divorce papers."
Noah exploded.
"You can't do this!"
Ava laughed.
"Watch me."
Within forty-eight hours, Noah, Claire, and Diane were gone.
But Ava's nightmare wasn't over.
A week later, she discovered that nearly $400,000 had disappeared from their investment accounts.
Money Noah had secretly transferred months earlier.
Ava immediately called her attorney.
As investigators began digging, they uncovered something even worse.
Claire wasn't the first mistress.
She was the third.
And Noah had been hiding a secret child for almost ten years.
But the biggest shock came when Ava received a call from an unknown number.
"Mrs. Thompson?"
"Yes?"
"My name is Sarah."
