My Husband Came Back From the Dead… But the DNA Test Said He Wasn’t My Husband at All

CHAPTER 1 — THE RETURN

“Open the door, Mia. It’s me.”

The voice froze Mia Bennett in place.

She stood barefoot in her kitchen, holding a mug she forgot she was filling.

Outside her apartment door… that voice.

Impossible.

Her husband, Daniel Bennett, had been dead for two years.

Car accident. Closed casket. Funeral. Everything.

She stepped closer.

“Who is this?” she asked, voice shaking.

A pause.

Then:

“You know who I am.”

Her heart slammed hard.

Slowly, she unlocked the door.

The man standing there looked exactly like Daniel.

Same eyes. Same scar above the eyebrow. Same tired smile.

But something was wrong.

He looked too… calm.

Like someone wearing a memory, not living it.

“Mia,” he said softly. “I’m home.”

She stepped back instantly.

“No. You’re not him.”

His smile didn’t fade.

“I am.”

She shook her head violently. “Daniel is dead. I buried him.”

“I know,” he said. “That’s what they wanted you to believe.”

That night, she let him stay.

Against every instinct.

Because fear wasn’t the strongest thing she felt.

Confusion was.

He slept on the couch.

Didn’t move.

Didn’t snore.

Didn’t breathe like someone alive should.

At 3:04 AM, Mia checked him.

He wasn’t there.

Only the blanket… perfectly folded.

May you like

And a note on the pillow:

“DON’T TAKE THE DNA TEST.”
