CHAPTER 3: THE TABLE TURNED

CHAPTER 3: THE TABLE TURNED

The hotel manager arrived.

“Is there a problem?”

I nodded.

“Yes.”

I took out my phone.

Connected it to the hotel’s main screen.

My father frowned.

“What are you doing?”

I didn’t answer.

I just pressed play.

The first clip showed my sister.

Shoving Lily.

Smiling.

The second showed my father grabbing my arm.

The third showed my mother saying nothing.

Then came the audio.

“Kids like that embarrass the family.”

A silence fell over the terrace.

Guests stopped eating.

Phones lowered.

My sister’s face changed.

“That’s edited.”

I shook my head.

“No.”

“It’s stored directly from your hotel’s backup camera system.”

I turned to the hotel manager.

“You keep recordings for liability reasons, right?”

He nodded slowly.

My father stepped forward.

“This is private family matter.”

I looked at him.

“You made it public when you touched my child.”

I tapped again.

Another folder opened.

My brother froze.

“Wait… what is that?”

Financial records.

Messages.

Signed documents.

My mother’s voice cracked.

“Where did you get that?”

I answered calmly.

“I’ve been preparing for years.”

Silence.

My sister backed away.

“You recorded us?”

I nodded.

“Every time you forgot I was still human.”

Security moved closer.

Not toward me.

Toward them.

The hotel manager spoke quietly.

“I’m going to have to ask you all to leave.”

My father turned pale.

“This is absurd—”

But no one was listening anymore.

Because everyone had already seen the truth.

I bent down and picked up Lily.

She was warm again now.

Safe.

My sister whispered behind me.

“You ruined this family.”

I stopped walking.

And looked back once.

“No.”

May you like

“You did that when you chose cruelty over a child.”

Then I left.
