Chapter 4: The Casino

We kicked the door for 20 minutes. Nothing.
Brian called 911. “We’re trapped in a—”
Click. Dead. Kevin cut the power.

Two hours later, a locksmith “happened” to walk by. Let us out for $200 cash.
“Guy paid me to keep you busy,” he winked. “Said it was a prank.”

We floored it to the casino. Kevin was at the high roller table.
Stacks of chips. $100k. Maybe more.
He saw us and grinned. “Sup, millionaires!”
“Where’s the ticket?” Brian growled.
“Safe,” Kevin said, patting his chest. “I cashed it already. Put it all on black. Doubled it. We’re at $1.6M now!”

My head spun. “You gambled it?!”
“Duh. Scared money don’t make money!”

Security walked up. “Mr. Kevin? We need to talk about the ticket you cashed.”
Kevin paled. “What? It’s legit!”
“Sir, the lottery office just called. That ticket was reported stolen this morning. By a Mr. Brian Miller.”

Brian blinked. “I… did that. Two hours ago. Before we got locked in.”
Security cuffed Kevin. “We’re holding the funds until it’s cleared up.”
Kevin looked at us as they dragged him away. “You guys called the cops on me?!”

Brian turned to me. “I didn’t know he actually had it.”
I turned to Brian. “You just got $1.6 million frozen by the feds.”
And then the slot machine behind us hit jackpot.
$2.4 million.
The winner?
Dana.
Holding Brian’s phone.
