PART 2: THE COMPANY THAT FORGOT ITS CEO
Ethan was pouring champagne when the first alert hit his phone.
He ignored it.
Then his mistress’s phone buzzed. Then his own again. Then every executive’s device in the group chat started exploding.
“What the hell?” he muttered, checking the screen. “Board meeting? At this hour?”
He opened the email and froze.
URGENT: Immediate Transfer of Executive Authority – Effective Immediately.
His face went pale. “This is a joke.”
He called his assistant. No answer. He called the CFO. Straight to voicemail. He called the head of security for the entire building.
The man picked up, but his voice was cold.
“Mr. Hargrove, I’ve been instructed not to discuss operational matters with you at this time.”
Ethan laughed angrily. “What are you talking about? This is my company!”
“Sir… according to the new ownership registry, it is not.”
Ethan stormed toward the elevator, yanking at his tie. The button didn’t light up. He tried again. Nothing.
Security appeared — two men he had personally hired.
“Open the elevator,” Ethan demanded.
They didn’t move.
One of them spoke quietly. “We no longer report to you, sir.”
Ethan’s laugh turned nervous. “This is insane. Who the hell do you report to now?”

The guard met his eyes.
“Your wife.”
