Chapter 2: The Man Who Disappeared

I woke up in a hospital bed.

Bandages wrapped around my ribs.

Every breath felt like broken glass.

A doctor stood beside me, avoiding eye contact.

“You were lucky to survive internal bleeding.”

Lucky.

I almost laughed.

It hurt too much.

“Where is my wife?”

Silence.

Then an envelope.

“No one is coming,” the doctor said quietly.

Inside—

legal documents.

Transfer agreements.

Company ownership changes.

Bank accounts emptied.

Every signature… mine.

But I didn’t remember signing anything.

“This is fraud,” I whispered.

The doctor shook his head.

“It’s been legally verified.”

Then I saw the final clause.

“All assets transferred to Vale Consortium and Liora Carter.”

My wife.

And him.

They didn’t just beat me.

They erased me.

Three days later, I signed myself out.

No money.

No home.

No identity.

Just pain and silence.

That night, I stood on a bridge.

Looking down.

One step away from ending everything.

Then someone grabbed my arm.

A woman.

Stranger.

“You’re not done,” she said.

Then she handed me a card.

“If you survive the night… call this.”

And she walked away.

I didn’t understand it then.

But I chose not to fall.

That was the first mistake they made.

They assumed I was finished.
