CHAPTER 2: THE DNA TEST

Melissa cried exactly as Jake expected.
She apologized.
Promised therapy.
Promised change.
Promised everything.
And just like before, Jake believed her.
For two more days.
Then a package arrived.
No return address.
Inside was a DNA test.
And a handwritten note.
"You deserve the truth."
Jake almost threw it away.
Almost.
Instead, curiosity got the better of him.
A week later, the results arrived.
Jake opened the envelope while drinking coffee.
Then dropped it.
His hands started shaking.
Because according to the report...
The man who raised him wasn't his biological father.
"That's impossible."
His mother denied it.
His father denied it.
Everyone denied it.
Until Hannah finally broke.
Tears filled her eyes.
"Mom was going to tell you someday."
Jake stared.
"Tell me what?"
Hannah looked away.
"The man who raised us knew."
The room fell silent.
Jake's stomach turned.
Because that meant one thing.
His father had spent twenty years pretending.
May you like
But why?
And who was his real father?
