Chapter 2: The Hidden Sound
Jake pushed the door open anyway.
The room was dark and covered in dust.
Nobody.
Nothing.
At least that's what it looked like.
"See?" the nurse said nervously. "Empty."
But Rex wasn't interested in the room.
He ran straight to the wall behind the bed and started scratching at it.
Jake knocked on the wall.
Solid.
Then—
knock.
Knock.
Knock.
Something knocked back.
Jake froze.
The nurse turned pale.
"Did you hear that?" Jake whispered.
"No..." she stammered. "We should leave."
But Rex kept barking.
Hospital security arrived minutes later.
One of the maintenance workers examined the wall.
"There shouldn't even be a space behind this."
Jake crossed his arms.
"Then explain the knocking."
The worker grabbed a hammer.
Three hits later, part of the wall cracked open.
Everyone stepped back.
Behind the wall was a narrow hidden passage.
Cold air rushed out.
And deep inside the darkness...
