CHAPTER 4: THE LAST WORDS

Nobody noticed Vanessa backing toward the door.
Not until Logan spoke.
"Why are you panicking?"
Vanessa froze.
Marina lowered her eyes.
Then finally revealed the secret she had carried for two years.
"Olivia knew her brakes had been tampered with."
The room went silent.
Logan felt like the floor disappeared beneath him.
"What?"
Marina nodded slowly.
"She told me it wasn't an accident."
Emma squeezed Marina's hand tighter.
Vanessa looked ready to collapse.
"Stop this," she whispered.
But nobody was listening anymore.
Marina continued.
"Olivia said only one person had access to her car that day."
Logan turned slowly toward Vanessa.
His heart pounding.
The woman he planned to marry was already crying.
"No..."
"Vanessa..." Logan said quietly.
"Tell me she's wrong."
Vanessa broke.
The confession came out between sobs.
She admitted she had secretly been involved with Logan years before Olivia died.
She admitted jealousy.
Arguments.
Resentment.
But she swore she never intended to kill anyone.
An investigation reopened months later.
Evidence revealed that a mechanic Vanessa had paid to "scare Olivia" had deliberately damaged the vehicle.
The crash that killed Olivia was no accident.
And the truth finally came to light.
Vanessa was arrested.
The engagement ended.
The mansion grew quiet once again.
But something else changed too.
Weeks later, Logan was reading in the garden when a tiny voice spoke beside him.
"Daddy."
Logan froze.
Emma smiled.
Then said it again.
"Daddy."
Tears filled his eyes.
After years of silence, she was finally finding her voice.
Not because doctors fixed her.
Not because therapy worked.
But because the truth was no longer hiding in the shadows.
And for the first time since her mother's death...
May you like
Emma finally felt safe.
THE END.
