PART 3 The Marriage That Was Never About Love

Daniel walked away from the altar.

Slowly.

Every step felt heavier than the last.

Victoria followed him.

"Daniel, listen to me."

"No."

His voice was different now.

Cold.

Controlled.

"How long?"

She stopped.

"What?"

"How long were you planning this?"

Victoria's eyes filled with tears.

"You think I wanted this?"

"Then why?"

Silence.

Then she whispered:

"Because I had no choice."

Daniel looked at her.

"What does that mean?"

Victoria looked toward the guests.

"My father owed money."

"My family was going to lose everything."

"Your lawyer came to us."

"He said if I married you, everyone would win."

Daniel stared.

"Everyone?"

She nodded.

"Your family."

"My family."

"The investors."

"Everyone except you."

The confession shocked the room.

But Emma wasn't finished.

"There is more."

She walked toward the screen.

She connected her phone.

A new video appeared.

It showed a private meeting.

Victoria.

Daniel's lawyer.

And Daniel's uncle.

The room watched in silence.

The lawyer's voice played through the speakers.

"Once the marriage is completed, control transfers immediately."

Victoria's voice followed.

"And Daniel?"

A pause.

Then the uncle answered:

"He won't be a problem."

The ballroom went silent.

Daniel's face lost all emotion.

His own family.

His own people.

Planning his destruction.

The police arrived minutes later.

Daniel's uncle and lawyer were arrested for fraud, conspiracy, and attempted murder.

Victoria was not arrested.

Because when investigators reviewed the evidence...

They discovered something unexpected.

She had never planned to kill Daniel.

She had been trying to delay the ceremony.

The poison was placed by someone else.

Someone who wanted Daniel dead before he discovered the truth.

Victoria had been trapped too.

Just differently.

Three months later...

The trial exposed everything.

The family empire collapsed.

The people who believed they were untouchable lost everything.

Daniel visited Emma after the investigation ended.

"I owe you my life."

She smiled.

"You don't owe me anything."

"I just did what I wish someone had done for my father."

Daniel looked down.

"I'm sorry."

"For what?"

"For not seeing the truth sooner."

Emma nodded.

"Most people don't."

"They believe the perfect story."

"They don't look behind it."

Daniel smiled sadly.

"You saved me from the person I was supposed to trust."

Emma looked away.

May you like

"Sometimes the most dangerous people aren't strangers."

"They're the ones standing closest to you."
