CHAPTER 4 — THE TOWN REWRITES YOU
CHAPTER 4 — THE TOWN REWRITES YOU

The coffin began closing itself.
Claire screamed.
“STOP THIS!”
Ethan held her hand.
“I can’t.”
Claire looked at him.
“Why are you doing this?!”
Ethan’s voice broke.
“Because I already lost you once.”
“And I can’t lose the version they accept.”

The system voice returned.
“SUBJECT ALIGNMENT IN PROGRESS.”
The town outside repeated the same movements again.
Resetting.
Looping.
Claire’s memories started breaking apart.
Faces shifting.
Moments rewriting.
Ethan whispered:
“You’re not supposed to remember this part.”
Claire struggled.
“I REMEMBER EVERYTHING!”
The system responded:
“That is the error.”
---
The church doors opened suddenly.
The town stood outside.
All smiling again.
One voice spoke in unison:
“Welcome back, Claire.”
Claire stepped backward.
Ethan whispered:
“You have one choice.”
“Accept the version we built…”
“…or break the town completely.”
Claire looked at the coffin.
At her name.
At the people waiting for her ending.
And she said:
“I’m not yours to finish.”
May you like
The system glitched.
And the town… restarted.
