THE MIRROR IN MY HOUSE SHOWED ME STANDING BEHIND MYSELF… WHILE I WAS STILL ASLEEP

Chapter 1: The Second Reflection

The first thing I saw when I woke up was myself standing in the mirror…

Except I was still in bed.

My eyes snapped open.

The room was dark.

Silent.

Normal.

But the mirror across from my bed was not.

In it…

I was standing perfectly still.

Staring directly at myself.

Smiling.

I couldn’t breathe.

My body stayed frozen under the blanket.

But in the mirror—

the “me” inside it lifted a hand.

Slowly.

And waved.

I shot up in bed.

The mirror went blank.

Just my reflection again.

Normal.

Tired.

Confused.

I rubbed my eyes hard.

“No… no, that’s not real.”

I forced a laugh.

Sleep paralysis.

Stress.

That had to be it.

But when I turned on the bedside lamp…

I noticed something.

My bedroom door was slightly open.

I always sleep with it closed.

Always.

I got up slowly.

Walked toward it.

My hand hovered over the handle.

Then—

I heard breathing.

From inside the closet.

Soft.

Measured.

Like someone trying not to be heard.

I froze.

Every rational thought told me to run.

But instead…

I opened the closet.

Nothing.

Just clothes.

Shoes.

Darkness.

I exhaled.

Relief hit me too fast.

Then—

A whisper came from right behind me.

“Don’t turn around.”

I turned around anyway.

Nothing was there.

But the mirror in the hallway—

May you like

it showed me standing in the closet.

Smiling again.
