PART 2

Thirty minutes later...

Federal investigators arrived with a warrant.

Someone had accused the company of destroying financial records.

The CEO smiled confidently.

"We've done nothing wrong."

The lead investigator asked one question.

"Where's your receptionist?"

The CEO frowned.

"Why?"

"Because according to every security camera..."

"She's the last employee who saw the missing files."

The room went silent.

The CEO immediately called Emily.

No answer.

Hours later, Emily voluntarily returned.

She calmly handed investigators a flash drive.

"I copied the lobby footage because company policy requires a backup every Friday."

The video showed the real thief.

Not the receptionist.

The company's chief financial officer.

He had removed the files minutes before accusing someone else.

The CEO stared at Emily.

"I... fired the wrong person."

Emily smiled politely.

"You didn't fire the wrong person."

"You trusted the wrong one."

Three weeks later, the CFO was arrested for fraud.

The CEO publicly apologized and offered Emily her job back.

She declined.

"I deserve a boss who checks the facts before judging people."

She accepted a position at another company.

Six months later, she became its operations manager.
