CHAPTER 1: The Funeral That Wasn't His

When Ethan Carter received a phone call saying his younger brother had died in a car crash, his world shattered.

For seven years, Ethan and his brother Ryan hadn't spoken. A bitter argument over their late father's inheritance had torn the family apart.

Now it was too late.

Or so he thought.

Three days later, Ethan stood beside Ryan's closed casket at the funeral. As mourners filed past, an elderly woman approached him.

Her hands trembled as she slipped a folded note into his pocket.

"Your brother isn't dead," she whispered.

Before Ethan could ask anything, she disappeared into the crowd.

His heart pounded as he unfolded the paper.

Inside was a single address.

And one sentence.

"If you want the truth, come alone."

That night, unable to sleep, Ethan drove to the abandoned warehouse listed on the note.

What he found inside made his blood run cold.

Ryan was standing there.

Alive.
