The slap echoed through the chapel.
“You liar!”
The bride, Olivia Hart, stood shaking in her wedding dress, eyes full of rage and tears.
Her groom, Daniel Reed, turned his face slowly from the impact.
A red mark appeared on his skin.
Guests gasped.
“What are you doing?” someone whispered.
Olivia pointed at him.
“You told me you cut ties with her!”
Her voice broke.
“You promised me I was the only one!”
Murmurs spread through the room.
Daniel did not defend himself.
He just looked at her.
That silence made her angrier.
“I saw the messages!”
Then she turned and ran out of the chapel into the rain.
Daniel stood still at the altar.
