CHAPTER 2: THREE DAYS LATER

Three days.

That was all it took.

Olivia woke up alone inside Victor's luxury penthouse.

His closet was empty.

His watches were gone.

Even the artwork had disappeared.

Confused, she called him.

The number no longer existed.

Moments later, police officers knocked on the door.

"Ms. Collins?"

"Where is Victor Hale?"

"I..."

"I don't know."

The lead detective sighed.

"He never owned this apartment."

"What?"

"He rented it for one week."

Olivia stared in disbelief.

The detective continued.

"The sports cars were rentals."

"The watches were fake."

"The investment company?"

"It doesn't exist."

"He has been scamming women across three states."

Her legs gave out.

Everything...

Everything had been fake.

Her phone buzzed.

Social media exploded.

Victor had disappeared with millions of dollars collected from fake real estate investors.

Including...

Her savings.

Her parents' retirement fund.

Everything she had convinced them to invest.

Then another notification appeared.

Ryan Carter.

She hadn't thought about him once.

Until now.

A local news station interviewed him.

He had just donated fifty thousand dollars to renovate the university scholarship program.

Students surrounded him.

Cheering.

Laughing.

One reporter asked,

"Where did the money come from?"

Ryan smiled.

"I sold my first software company."

The interviewer blinked.

"You were already successful?"

Ryan nodded.

May you like

"I just never liked showing it."

Olivia's hands began shaking.
