Celeste looked at her father.
Then at the envelope.
Then back at the little girl.

The cameras caught fear instead of confidence.
Her father smiled for the reporters.

Celeste didn't move.

His smile tightened.

The crowd exchanged uneasy glances.
A reporter took one step closer.

Two guards stepped forward.
Celeste suddenly raised her hand.

The guards froze.
"Nobody touches her."
A murmur spread through the crowd.
She broke the red wax seal.

One folded letter.
One faded photograph.
And a tiny hospital bracelet.
Celeste unfolded the letter first.
The handwriting stole the breath from her lungs.

She hadn't seen those looping letters in twenty years.
The first line made her knees weak.

A gasp swept through the reporters.

Her hands began to shake.
She looked at the little girl.
