Chapter 2: The Message Behind The Painting

Nobody moved.

Nobody spoke.

For the first time all day...

Vivian looked nervous.

Very nervous.

The detectives walked toward my father's study.

Everyone followed.

Family.

Lawyers.

Executives.

Even the house staff.

The entire mansion seemed to hold its breath.

The detective stopped in front of a massive oil painting.

My father's favorite.

A portrait of my late mother.

Then he pulled the painting aside.

A hidden safe appeared.

Gasps filled the room.

Vivian looked pale.

"What's going on?"

The detective ignored her.

He entered the code.

Click.

The safe opened.

Inside were stacks of documents.

A flash drive.

And a sealed envelope.

My name was written across the front.

FOR ISABELLA ONLY

My heart stopped.

The detective handed it to me.

My fingers trembled.

I opened it.

Inside was a letter.

My father's handwriting.

Bella,

If you're reading this, then I'm probably dead.

And if Vivian is still living in this house...

You need to leave immediately.

The room exploded.

Vivian's face turned white.

I continued reading.

I no longer trust my wife.

If anything happens to me, do not believe the official story.

Everything you need is on the flash drive.

The truth.

The evidence.

And the real will.

My hands started shaking.

Then I reached the final sentence.

May you like

The sentence that changed everything.

Vivian isn't the person she claims to be.
