The handcuffs clicked shut.
Derek's confidence disappeared.

He looked back at me.

"Please."
"I lost my temper."
I wiped the blood from my lip.
"You didn't lose it."
"You used it."
Silence.
Michael placed an arm around my shoulders.
"We're leaving."
At the hospital...

The detective met us there.

He placed a folder on the table.

"Both were withdrawn."
