Lena laughed.
Not because it was funny.
Because it was too much.
“You’re telling me I built a system… that replaces my life every time I remember it?”
Amara nodded.
“Yes.”
Ryan added:
“And we’re the ones who keep fixing it.”
Lena’s eyes filled with tears.
“So every version of my life…”
“Ends the same way,” Amara said.
“Me betraying everyone?”
Ryan stepped closer.
“No,” he said quietly.
“You trying to save everyone.”
A silence fell.
Then alarms screamed.
The system activated.
“RESET INITIATED.”
Walls began to collapse into light.
Amara grabbed Lena’s hand.
“This is your last chance. Choose: stay human… or wake up fully.”
Lena looked at both of them.
Her best friend.
Her husband.
Both liars.
Both protectors.
Both betrayers.
And she whispered:
“…What happens if I wake up?”
