PART 3: WHAT LETICIA NEVER SAW COMING

“Let her go.”

A man’s voice cut through the garage.

Firm.

Controlled.

Familiar.

Diego.

Leticia turned fully now, shocked.

“Diego…?”

But he wasn’t alone.

Behind him stood two security guards from the mall.

And a woman holding a phone recording everything.

Elena gasped.

“Diego… how did you—”

“I tracked your location,” he said quickly, eyes locked on Leticia. “You left a digital trail when you accessed Mateo’s school records again.”

Leticia scoffed.

“You’re spying on me now?”

Diego stepped closer.

“No. I’m protecting my family.”

That word hit her.

Family.

Leticia’s face twisted again.

“You took my place,” she screamed at Elena. “You stole everything!”

She lunged again.

But this time—

a guard grabbed her arm mid-motion.

“Ma’am, stop!”

Leticia struggled.

“Let me go! She’s ruining my life!”

Elena stood frozen, shaking.

Diego rushed to her side immediately.

“Are you hurt?”

She shook her head, barely breathing.

“No… I thought… I thought she was going to—”

“I know,” Diego said softly, pulling her behind him.

Leticia was now restrained.

Still screaming.

Still fighting.

“You’ll regret this!” she shouted. “That child will never replace my son!”

The woman recording stepped forward.

“Actually,” she said calmly, “this whole confrontation is already uploaded to the legal cloud system.”

Leticia froze.

“What?”

The woman tilted her phone.

“We’ve been documenting harassment for three months.”

Diego’s voice turned cold.

“You violated restraining agreement terms. Again.”

Leticia’s face changed.

For the first time—

fear.

Real fear.

“No… you wouldn’t…”

But the guards were already pulling her away.

Her voice echoed through the garage.

“This isn’t over!”

As she disappeared, silence returned.

Only the distant hum of cars remained.

Elena finally exhaled.

Her hands were shaking.

“I thought she was going to kick me…” she whispered.

Diego turned to her.

“And I thought I was going to lose you.”

He gently placed a hand on her stomach.

A heartbeat was faintly felt through her dress.

Safe.

Alive.

He closed his eyes for a second.

Then whispered:

“No one touches my family again.”

FINAL SCENE (ONE WEEK LATER)

The court filing was already in motion.

Evidence compiled.

Recordings verified.

Restraining order upgraded to criminal harassment charges.

Leticia had lost custody privileges temporarily.

But for Elena, none of that mattered as much as this moment:

Mateo running into her arms at home.

“Tía Ele!” he shouted. “Papá said you were scared!”

Elena laughed softly, tears forming.

“I was a little scared,” she admitted.

Mateo hugged her carefully.

Then paused.

His small hand touched her belly.

“Baby brother okay?”

Elena nodded.

“He’s okay.”

Diego stood behind them, watching quietly.

For the first time in months, there was no tension in his shoulders.

Only relief.

He walked over and kissed Elena’s forehead.

“You stayed strong,” he said.

Elena shook her head slightly.

“I didn’t have a choice.”

Diego smiled faintly.

“We all did.”

Outside, the world kept moving.

But inside that home—

something finally felt simple.

Not perfect.

Not easy.

But safe.

And for the first time in a long time…

Elena believed it would stay that way.
