I STOPPED A ROBBERY IN A LUXURY BANK… THEN THE ROBBER CALLED ME “MOM”
Chapter 1: The Moment Everything Froze
“Everybody on the ground!”
The gunshot didn’t come first.
The scream did.
Then the glass exploded.
I was standing in line at the Royal Trust Bank when everything went wrong.
One second, people were checking phones.
Complaining about interest rates.
Drinking overpriced coffee.
The next second…
Three masked men stormed inside.
One fired into the ceiling.
BANG!
The entire bank dropped.
Except me.
I didn’t move fast enough.
A hand grabbed my arm.
Rough.
Cold.
A gun pressed against my temple.
“Move and she dies.”
My breath stopped.
Behind the mask, I could feel his eyes on me.
Not random.
Not professional.
Personal.
“Get her in the vault,” he said.
My stomach dropped.
Vault.
Why me?
They pushed me forward.
Past terrified customers.
Past security guards on the floor.
Past a crying child hiding under a chair.
Then I saw it.
The lead robber removed his mask for a second.
Just long enough for me to see his face.
Young.
Familiar.
Too familiar.
My brain couldn’t place it.
But my body did.
Because my heart started shaking before my mind understood why.
Then he whispered:
“You don’t recognize me?”
My voice broke.
“Who are you?”
He smiled.
Cold.
Broken.
May you like
And said the sentence that destroyed my world:
“You used to call me your son.”
