PART 2

"What are you talking about?" I asked.

The old woman looked around nervously before pulling me farther down the hallway.

"My name is Margaret," she whispered.

"I've worked in this hotel for thirty-eight years."

She pointed toward the library.

"That room doesn't exist."

I stared at her.

"I just walked inside."

She slowly shook her head.

"That room was sealed after a fire... twenty years ago."

A chill ran down my spine.

"That's impossible."

She looked directly into my eyes.

"So is what you just saw."

Before I could respond, my phone vibrated.

Nathan.

WHERE ARE YOU?

A photo appeared beneath the message.

Nathan stood inside the ballroom, smiling beside the mayor and several guests.

The timestamp read:

8:42 PM.

I looked at my watch.

8:42 PM.

Exactly the moment I had watched him kiss another woman.

"No..."

I whispered.

I ran back into the ballroom.

Nathan smiled the moment he saw me.

"There you are!"

He kissed my forehead.

"You disappeared."

I stepped backward.

"Who were you with?"

He frowned.

"What?"

"The woman in the red dress."

His smile slowly faded.

"Evelyn..."

"I've been in this ballroom for almost an hour."

I looked around.

Hundreds of people.

Musicians.

Servers.

Security cameras.

Everyone seemed normal.

Then Margaret suddenly screamed from the hallway.

I turned.

She was staring toward the library.

"The door..."

Everyone looked.

May you like

The old wooden door was opening...

By itself.
