CHAPTER 4: THE NIGHTMARE
CHAPTER 4: THE NIGHTMARE
Richard Lawson looked at Ethan with cold eyes.
"You remember when you told Sarah she'd never become anything without you?"
Ethan couldn't speak.
Richard continued.
"Three years ago, I discovered she was my biological daughter. She never wanted your money. She never needed your help."
The guests stared.
Sarah had quietly built a successful company of her own.
She was wealthier than Ethan now.
Far wealthier.
Victoria removed her engagement ring.
"I'm done."
She dropped it into his hand and walked away.
Several business partners followed her.
One by one.
Within minutes, Ethan's perfect wedding had fallen apart.
His bride was gone.
His reputation was shattered.
His guests were leaving.
Meanwhile, Sarah knelt beside the twins.
"Say goodbye."
The children waved politely.
"Bye, Daddy."
The word hurt more this time.
Ethan looked at them.
Then at Sarah.
Tears filled his eyes.
"I was wrong."
Sarah nodded.
"Yes. You were."
"Can we start over?"
For a moment, he hoped.
But Sarah smiled sadly.
"You can be their father if they want you in their lives."
She paused.
"But you'll never be my husband again."
Sarah took the children's hands.
The Rolls-Royce door closed.
The car pulled away.
And Ethan stood alone in the ruins of the wedding he had built to humiliate someone...

Only to discover he had destroyed himself.
